Created in 1982, the LA/SPCA's Annual Dog Day Afternoon is one of the oldest dog/fun walk-a-thons in the United States and the original Louisiana event. Dog Day provides the perfect family-friendly occasion to appreciate the bond with our canine companions.

Show your pride -- bring a regional dish or drink (alcoholic or non), share in the snacking. We will display all dishes and drinks at 8pm, start snacking, drinking and break into the lessons and dj music. A night for those who LOVE food, music and dance.

8:00pm: Doors open
8:30-9:30pm: Lessons: Tango (Argentina), Samba (Brazil) & Swing (US) (lessons begin promptly at 8:30pm)
9:30pm-12am: Mixed DJ music...funk, soul, R&B, blues, 80's, "exotic" music

The CD features Glen's band along with an all-star lineup of New Orleans best, including Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews, John Boutte, Glen Andrews (ReBirth), Revert Andrews, and Paul Sanchez.

So, we have people arriving as early as December 26, and staying through January 6. These are my recommendations for those who want to dance every night! I've been trying to reach the Blues Club, but can't find their lineup. Once I get it, I'll add to it.

5:15 PM- George French at the Ritz, no cover but a drink is recommended
6:30 PM- Panorama at Spotted Cat, no cover
7:00 PM- Loose Marbles at Fritzels, 1 drink minimum
9:00 PM- Jeremy Davenport at the Ritz, no cover but a drink is recommended

On December 6 Canal Street turns into a virtual winter wonderland with a parade – the first New Orleans holiday parade in 15 years -- and an outdoor all-star concert.

Santa Claus may steal the spotlight in the parade, but there will be plenty of other celebrities riding on the holiday-themed floats, which will be accompanied by walking characters, dance troupes, stilt walkers, festival queens and marching bands, such as St. Augustine High School, Rabouin High School and Warren Easton High School, as well as the Riverwalk Jazz Band.
