Hi McPuddin!
What your friend sent you pretty much sums it up. A few other things:
Friday at the Ritz Carlton is dress up only--no jeans, no tennis shoes, and you should support the bar (if you're not having dinner there) with cocktails instead of a coke or a bottle of water. The Cottonmouth Kings also play at Spotted Cat on Fridays, about 10:00 PM. Weather permitting, I'll be there--tell me what you look like so I can find you! The Moonshiners are also the early show at dba this Friday (no cover, 6 PM). You'll probably find more dancers on Frenchmen Street Friday night than at the Ritz.
There probably won't be any room for dancing at John Boutte's show on Saturday at dba, but you should still check him out. In my opinion, he has the most soulful voice in New Orleans, and is one of the most passionate performers I've ever seen. After that, you can catch the rest of Jayna Morgan's show (the singer for Sazerac Sunrise Jazz Band and local dancer & teacher extraordinaire), which is about 5 minute walk down the block.
Sunday's show at dba, the Palmetto Bug Stompers, usually draws a big crowd, so you'll probably find a lot of dancers there. I think I'll be at that show, too.
Hope you enjoy your stay!
